We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Overnight Awake Youth Worker to join our team at WJS Canada. As a key member of our residential care team, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and supportive environment for children and youth in our care.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure a consistent, healthy, and safe environment for children and youth, including regular bed checks and providing night-time supports as required.
- Provide comfort and reassurance to young children and youth who may have experienced trauma, including soothing from bad dreams and changing sheets.
- Contribute to the maintenance of the home, including cleaning, meal preparation, and research of community and cultural events.
- Assist with the morning routine, including wake-up calls, breakfast preparation, and assistance with personal care.
- Transport school-aged children to school on school days.
- Model positive behaviors and provide empathetic listening skills to children and youth.
- Ensure individuals' basic needs are met and teach age-appropriate living skills.
- Collaborate with other team members to plan and deliver culturally appropriate programs and services.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in Child and Youth Work, preferably in a group home and/or community setting.
- Experience supporting Indigenous children and youth is an asset.
- Certificate, diploma, or degree in Social Work, Child and Youth Work, or a related field.
- First Aid/CPR Certificate and training in crisis intervention, suicide intervention, and medication administration.
- Indigenous Awareness and cultural diversity training.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and follow Spirit of Our Youth Homes Inc. policies and procedures.
- Able to lift 50 lbs.
