Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Child and Youth Care Worker to join our team at WJS Canada. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting the development and well-being of youth in our care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist and support youth in achieving personal goals and developing life skills such as communication, emotional well-being, and problem-solving.
  • Teach and encourage age-appropriate life skills, including cooking, cleaning, budgeting, and being a positive role model.
  • Supervise and participate in programming and activities that promote social, emotional, and physical development.
  • Ensure the basic needs of youth are met, including personal care, life skills, and social/occupational skills.
  • Contribute to daily household tasks and assist youth in completing these tasks.
  • Transport youth to and from school, medical appointments, and other activities.
  • Plan and deliver culturally appropriate programs, services, and workshops that promote youth engagement and participation.
  • Collaborate with the team to design, implement, and evaluate individual service plans and program policies.
Requirements
  • Certificate, diploma, or degree in Child and Youth Work, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • 2 years of experience in youth programming, group homes, or supported independent living.
  • Preference for Indigenous applicants as per the CHRC Aboriginal Employment Policy.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License and clean driver's abstract with personal car insurance.
  • First Aid/CPR Certificate and training in crisis intervention, suicide intervention, and medication administration.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and follow Spirit of Our Youth Homes Inc. policies and procedures.
