Position Overview

Salary Range - $

As a Sales Counter Representative, your primary responsibility will be to assist walk-in customers at our Profit Centre counters. You will ensure exceptional customer service by maintaining, organizing, and cleaning the counter sales area. Additionally, you will support customers by addressing inquiries, processing orders, and managing backorders effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist customers with their purchases at the Profit Centre counters
  • Research products and provide recommendations from our extensive inventory
  • Drive sales growth through effective counter merchandising and product promotion, while generating leads for the Outside Account Manager
  • Process, pick, and pack sales orders initiated at the counter
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the counter area, including merchandising displays
  • Notify the buyer when stock levels are insufficient
  • Follow up on backorders with suppliers and communicate accurate delivery timelines to customers
  • Handle returns and warranty claims for both account and cash sales, ensuring compliance with all procedures
  • Resolve customer concerns and complaints effectively
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Profit Centre Manager

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education is an asset
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in customer service or counter sales
  • Exceptional customer service and verbal communication skills
  • Strong relationship-building abilities with customers, vendors, and colleagues
  • Proficient in learning and utilizing the software systems for order processing
  • Experience in a fast-paced work environment
  • Intermediate math skills with a keen attention to detail
  • Ability to learn to operate material handling equipment
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic and integrity
  • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team

Preferred Skills:

  • Prior experience or knowledge of plumbing and building products
  • Proficient in using the Internet for problem-solving and finding alternative solutions
  • Experience with software such as Trend, Eclipse, Word, Excel, and Outlook
