Key Responsibilities- Assist with the delivery of a Therapeutic Recreation / Life Skills Day Program.
- Support the development and implementation of recreation programs for adults with disabilities.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure the success of the program.
- Provide exceptional customer service to program participants and their families.
- Completion of a college diploma in a related field or equivalent experience working with adults with disabilities.
- Minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience working with adults with disabilities.
- Current Standard First Aid, CPR, and/or AED certificates.
- Crisis Prevention/Intervention training certificate.
- AODA Customer Service/IASR Training.
- Ergonomic Lifts and Transfers training.
- Comfort level and expertise with different disability groups (physical, developmental, etc.).
- Legislation protecting the rights of special needs clients, populations.
- Client care.
- City of Ottawa and Parks & Recreation Branch Policies and Procedures.
- Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers.
- Training in medical client care.
