Job Title: Therapeutic Recreation Specialist

Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services is seeking a highly skilled Therapeutic Recreation Specialist to join our team. As a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, you will be responsible for assisting with the delivery of therapeutic recreation programs, including aspects of therapeutic recreation programming.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the delivery of therapeutic recreation programs, including aspects of therapeutic recreation programming.
  • Work with clients to develop and implement individualized recreation plans.
  • Provide support and guidance to clients in achieving their recreation goals.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, such as occupational therapists and social workers, to ensure comprehensive support for clients.
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify client needs and develop recreation plans.
Requirements:
  • Completion of a 4-year Therapeutic Recreation degree or a 3-year general degree with a Therapeutic Recreation Diploma.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in therapeutic recreation, adult day programs, ABI, special needs, rehab, community, and inclusive recreation.
  • Current Standard First Aid, CPR, and/or AED certificates.
  • Crisis Prevention/Intervention training certificate.
  • AODA Customer Service/IASR Training.
