Horseracing Operations Role

At Woodbine Entertainment, we are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our racing operations team as a Racing Office Coordinator. This role is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our racing entries process, working closely with trainers, owners, and other stakeholders to confirm race information, eligibility, and compliance with regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Confirm horse entries for the race card, ensuring accuracy and adherence to AGCO regulations.
  • Verify horse eligibility and ensure compliance with racing rules and regulations.
  • Communicate with trainers and owners to resolve any discrepancies or issues with entries.
  • Assist the Stakes Manager with producing the overnight report, a comprehensive listing of race information.
  • Work with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario to confirm scratches and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with internal departments and external clients, including trainers, drivers, owners, and regulatory bodies.
  • Assist the Charter & Placing Judge as needed, charting qualifiers and live racing.

Requirements:

  • General knowledge of the horse racing industry and its rules and regulations.
  • Advanced attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with all levels of staff, trainers, and owners.
  • General computer skills in a Windows environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment.

Education and Experience:

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma.
  • 1-2 years of office experience.
  • ACGO License.
