Job Title: Specialist Internal Controls

At CP, we are seeking a highly skilled Specialist Internal Controls to join our team. As a key member of our internal audit and risk management function, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effectiveness of our internal control framework.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the management of our SOX 404/302 program, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Help manage the quarterly certification of controls process, working closely with business process owners.
  • Plan and perform internal controls testing to ensure the completion of our annual SOX program in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Work with external auditors, internal audit, and business process owners to coordinate the execution of testing plans, including scheduling and remediation of control deficiencies.
  • Collaborate with control owners to address control deficiencies and ensure timely implementation of remediation plans.
  • Assist in the preparation of reporting to senior management on control deficiencies and remediation status.
  • Continuously improve our internal control framework, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing changes as needed.
  • Maintain and improve documentation of internal controls and management's documentation of processes and controls in our Governance Reporting and Compliance software.
  • Monitor CP processes and the regulatory environment for changes that could impact our internal control framework.
Requirements:
  • Undergraduate degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or other relevant fields.
  • Professional Accounting Designation.
  • 3-6 years of experience in accounting, auditing, and/or controls design or assessment.
  • Detail working knowledge of PCAOB requirements and COSO framework.
  • Effective relationship builder with strong communication skills.
  • Continuous improvement mindset, strong attention to detail, and drive for results.
  • Experience in planning and project/task management.
  • Strong ability with Microsoft Office products, specifically Word, Excel, and Visio.
