We are seeking a Junior Mortgage Underwriter within the Third Party Residential Underwriting division.

The Role

Under the supervision of the Manager, Third Party Residential Underwriting, the Junior Mortgage Underwriter assists in the underwriting and credit evaluation process by meticulously reviewing all necessary documentation and exercising sound judgment. The Junior Mortgage Underwriter is tasked with identifying any discrepancies, issues, or incomplete items that may pose a risk to the organization.

The Third Party Residential Underwriting Division, as part of Accoravillage, provides underwriting expertise and services on behalf of other financial institutions to the mortgage broker sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with mortgage brokers to enhance loyalty to the organization.
  • Foster strong connections with external partners such as mortgage insurers, appraisers, title insurance companies, and legal professionals.
  • Collaborate with mortgage brokers to gather all required documents to meet mortgage commitment conditions.
  • Review and confirm the accuracy of required documentation related to income, down payment, and property, ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory standards prior to approving any mortgage conditions or documents.
  • Escalate any documentation concerns to the Underwriter for further review and approval.
  • Maintain clear and comprehensive notes within the mortgage underwriting system.
  • Respond to all inquiries within established timelines.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures to ensure compliance with AML requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of post-secondary education or equivalent work experience is required.
  • Previous experience in the Financial Services sector is preferred.
  • Experience in the Mortgage industry is an asset.
  • Completion of a Mortgage Agent Course and/or FSRA License is advantageous.
  • Proficient in PC software within a Windows environment is required.

  • Multi-tasking may involve communicating with clients while accessing information on a computer.
