About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Bilingual Mortgage Underwriter to join our team at True North Mortgage. As a Mortgage Underwriter, you will play a critical role in reviewing and verifying mortgage applications to ensure they meet our company's guidelines and policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and verify the accuracy of mortgage application submissions using due diligence and in compliance with internal regulatory guidelines and anti-money laundering and terrorist financing guidelines.
  • Document clear and concise notes within the mortgage underwriting system.
  • Provide timely and accurate credit decisions.
  • Collaborate with other teams, including closers and partners, to ensure seamless mortgage processing.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in lenders and the real estate market to ensure compliance and competitiveness.
Requirements
  • Bilingual - Fluent in French.
  • 2-5 years of previous mortgage underwriting experience.
  • Intermediate MS Office tools, such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and Slack.
  • Strong decision-making skills and ability to convey solutions to areas of concern.
  • Proven ability to handle difficult situations and use good judgment based on experience and knowledge.
