About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Materials Manager to join our team at Magna. As a key member of our Inventory Control and Planning department, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient management of our inventory, including raw materials, purchased components, work-in-progress, and finished goods.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement effective inventory management procedures and processes to ensure high inventory accuracy and minimize stockouts and overstocking.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including purchasing, production, and logistics, to ensure seamless inventory management and minimize disruptions to production.
  • Implement and refine our Warehouse Management System (WMS) to optimize inventory management and reduce costs.
  • Ensure effective Just-In-Time (JIT) inventory management and maintain accurate inventory levels at each location.
  • Lead and develop a team of Material Analysts, providing training and guidance to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to perform their roles effectively.
  • Communicate effectively with suppliers and purchasing teams to achieve organizational objectives and ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Take a leading role in implementing flawless customer product launches and effective engineering changes.
  • Conduct inventory cycle counts and physical inventory audits to ensure accuracy and identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement corrective actions to prevent repeat issues and ensure effective inventory management.
  • Provide ongoing timely supplier performance feedback and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent in a related field, such as Supply Chain Management or Materials Management.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in inventory management, preferably in a multi-site manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and ERP systems, preferably Trans4M/CMI.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory control principles, including JIT inventory management and cycle counting.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
