Souvenir Photo Sales Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Assistant Manager of Retail Sales, this position is dedicated to capturing joyful moments and memories for our guests by providing high-quality souvenir photography services and personalized items. The primary objective of the Photo Experience Sales Associate is to drive sales through engaging interactions with visitors at various points within the facility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Photo Experience Sales Associate will enhance the visitor experience by:

Warmly welcoming and engaging with guests to capture their memorable photos upon arrival and throughout their visit; Promoting and selling souvenir photography, including taking, editing, and processing high-quality digital images and other personalized merchandise while delivering outstanding customer service; Accurately handling sales transactions using cash, debit, and credit card systems at the point of sale; Regularly organizing workstations, restocking supplies, conducting inventory checks, and ensuring that all photographic and computing equipment is functioning properly; Upholding the Aquarium's standards of excellence while adhering to the uniform policy; Effectively communicating information about the facility, events, and exhibits, and addressing visitor inquiries about local attractions; Assisting with various Visitor Experience initiatives, including conducting visitor surveys, selling memberships, and providing support at the Guest Services desk; Participating in cross-training programs to gain experience in Admissions and the Gift Shop;

The Photo Experience Sales Associate is committed to enhancing the Vancouver Aquarium's operations by:

Promptly responding to emergency protocols; Maintaining safety standards throughout the organization; Continuously striving to improve environmental impact and support sustainability initiatives; Actively embodying the Aquarium's values and expected conduct; Performing additional related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

At least 2 years of experience in high-volume retail sales, including cash handling and point-of-sale operations, along with basic computer skills; Familiarity with camera operation and photo editing is advantageous; Minimum of 2 years of experience in a customer service role or equivalent.

Skills

Strong passion for delivering exceptional guest and retail service; Knowledgeable, approachable, and assertive with a friendly demeanor; Excellent attention to detail and accuracy; Proficient with numbers and transactions; Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment as part of a team; Capable of making quick decisions and solving problems effectively; Diplomatic and composed when interacting with the public.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This role requires the ability to stand for extended periods and navigate the facility; Exposure to outdoor weather conditions is expected; Adherence to uniform and appearance guidelines is mandatory; Ability to safely lift and carry items weighing up to 15lbs is necessary; Frequent interaction with customers and staff in a bustling environment; Flexibility in scheduling is essential, including availability on weekends and holidays.

COMPENSATION: $19 per hour
