Position Overview

The University of Lethbridge is seeking applications for skilled Lifeguards and Swimming Instructors to enhance our Aquatics and Recreation Services.

We are looking for dedicated professionals with exceptional customer service abilities, teamwork skills, and strong communication capabilities. A positive, professional demeanor and a commitment to safety are essential. As a swimming instructor, you will engage with students of diverse ages and skill levels, crafting tailored lessons that prioritize safety and enjoyment in the water.

These positions report directly to the Aquatics Manager and play a vital role in fostering a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.

Key Responsibilities Include: Ensuring the safety and welfare of all patrons Proactively addressing safety concerns, providing first aid and lifesaving assistance as necessary Conducting swimming lessons, developing lesson plans, and tracking student progress Assisting with pool upkeep and equipment inspections, performing light cleaning tasks Completing assigned administrative duties Engaging in physical tasks, including retrieving a 20lb brick from the bottom of the dive tank Compensation:
The starting wage is $20.01 per hour, with additional shift differentials applicable. Instructors will receive an extra $1.00 per hour, with further increments for weekend and evening shifts.

Work Schedule:
Flexible hours with a focus on mutual success.

Position Qualifications: Successful candidates must provide a Vulnerable Sector check within 30 days of hire.
Lifesaving National Lifeguard Certification Intermediate First Aid Certification (Alberta Workplace Approved) Lifesaving Swim for Life Instructor Certification Optional: Lifesaving Instructor Certification
