About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary team at The Algonquin Resort. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of food quality, safety, and presentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate records of food costs, consumption, sales, and inventory to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
  • Analyze operating costs and other data to inform menu planning and kitchen operations.
  • Develop and implement new cooking techniques and equipment training for cooking staff.
  • Supervise and mentor specialist chefs, chefs, cooks, and other kitchen workers to ensure seamless kitchen operations.
  • Instruct cooks in food preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation techniques.
  • Prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for events such as banquets and functions.
  • Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient meal service.
  • Requisition food and kitchen supplies to maintain optimal inventory levels.
  • Plan and implement menu changes to ensure food quality and consistency.
  • Prepare and cook meals or specialty foods for customers with dietary restrictions or allergies.
  • Recruit, train, and develop kitchen staff to ensure a high-performing team.
Requirements
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • 5 years or more of experience in a senior culinary role.
  • Safe Food Handling certificate.
Work Environment

This is a fast-paced environment that requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and the ability to work under pressure. The successful candidate will be able to stand for extended periods, lift heavy loads, and work in a physically demanding environment.
