Position Overview

The Government of Nunavut is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join our team. This role involves significant responsibilities across the department, focusing on the preparation of financial forecasts, business proposals, and various financial submissions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage Expenditure Forecasts and Business Cases.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual Business Plan and Financial Management Board submissions.
  • Provide strategic guidance and support to departmental managers and staff.
  • Establish financial procedures and internal controls to ensure compliance with legislative requirements.
  • Oversee regional and divisional audit verification strategies and expenditure management reporting systems.
  • Ensure adherence to the Financial Administration Act and related guidelines.
  • Verify third-party claims and gather necessary information for reporting obligations.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a recognized undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field, along with a minimum of three years of relevant experience in budgeting, accounting, and financial management. A professional accounting designation (CPA) is considered an asset.

Language Proficiency:

Fluency in one or more of Nunavut's official languages (Inuktut, English, French) is highly desirable. Knowledge of Inuit culture and experience in a northern cross-cultural environment will be advantageous.
