Position Overview:

Barminco Mining Services Canada Ltd. is seeking a qualified Underground Shift Supervisor to oversee operations at the Hemlo site near Marathon, Ontario.

  • This role involves a rotation of 14 days on and 14 days off.
  • Shifts will alternate between days and nights.
  • The position allows for drive-in/drive-out or fly-in/fly-out arrangements for those residing outside the Marathon/Manitouwadge area.

Reporting directly to the Mine Foreman, the selected candidate will prioritize safety for themselves and their team while managing underground production and development crews to meet rapid development objectives outlined in the mine plan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Uphold all safety protocols and standard operating procedures, acting as a proactive safety leader to ensure Safe Production;
  • Provide direct supervision of daily operations, inspiring and offering constructive feedback to team members on production and development tasks;
  • Oversee jumbo operations, coordinating the bolt, screen, and boring processes;
  • Manage mucking, drilling, and hauling activities to sustain productivity and meet client and company performance indicators;
  • Conduct daily safety interactions and administrative tasks, mentoring the workforce in best practices and promoting positive standards;
  • Facilitate the handover of completed development drifts to the production team for subsequent stoping activities;
  • Collaborate with various departments to enhance working conditions and boost productivity;
  • Implement new technologies and work practices at Hemlo;
  • Prepare production reports;
  • Lead crew meetings to discuss operations and performance;

Qualifications:

  • A strong commitment to safety and the well-being of others;
  • Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent;
  • At least 5-10 years of experience in underground mining;
  • A minimum of 3-5 years in a supervisory capacity;
  • Experience in rapid development mining is advantageous, particularly with jumbo operations;
  • Possession of Underground Hard Rock Mining Supervisory Common Core certification;
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills;
  • Ability to thrive in a cross-cultural environment;
