Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a skilled Underground Shift Supervisor to oversee operations at our Hemlo site. This role involves a rotation of 14 days on and 14 days off, with both day and night shifts available. Candidates may choose a drive-in/drive-out or fly-in/fly-out arrangement if residing outside the local area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and standard operating procedures, acting as a proactive safety leader.
  • Supervise daily activities, providing motivation and constructive feedback to the production and development teams.
  • Manage jumbo operations, including bolting, screening, and boring processes.
  • Oversee mucking, drilling, and hauling operations to maintain high productivity levels and meet key performance indicators.
  • Conduct daily safety interactions and administrative tasks, mentoring the workforce in best practices.
  • Facilitate the handover of completed development drifts to the production team.
  • Collaborate with various departments to enhance working conditions and productivity.
  • Support the implementation of new technologies and work practices.
  • Prepare production reports and lead crew meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Strong commitment to safety for oneself and others.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • 5-10 years of experience in underground mining.
  • 3-5 years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Experience in rapid development mining is advantageous.
  • Possession of Underground Hard Rock Mining Supervisory Common Core certification.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Able to thrive in a cross-cultural environment.
