Job Summary:

Hundseth Power Line Construction (HPL) is seeking a skilled Apprentice Power Line Technician to join our team. As an Apprentice Power Line Technician, you will be responsible for performing a variety of assignments involved in the installation, construction, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintenance of overhead and underground distribution, transmission lines, switching stations, substations, communication networks, streetlight facilities, and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools and equipment, including backhoes, trenchers, skid steers, HydroVacs, directional bore machines, digger derrick trucks, all-terrain track machines, crawler dozers, bobcats, forklifts, and trackhoes.
  • Follow all safety procedures on the job site and report any violations immediately to the foreman.
  • Must have a valid Apprentice Power Line Technician Trade card from the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission.
  • A valid Class 5 license with a 1A preference is required.
  • Previous experience operating the following equipment would be considered an asset: backhoes, trenchers, skid steers, HydroVacs, and trackhoes.
  • One or more years of experience in construction is required.
  • Ability to travel out of town during the week or on weekends as required.
  • Ability to lift heavy tools and equipment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • This position is considered a safety-sensitive position, and all new hires will be required to complete a pre-employment medical evaluation that includes a hearing and drug and alcohol screening.

Requirements:

  • Valid Apprentice Power Line Technician Trade card from the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission.
  • Valid Class 5 license with a 1A preference.
  • Previous experience operating backhoes, trenchers, skid steers, HydroVacs, and trackhoes.
  • One or more years of experience in construction.
  • Ability to travel out of town during the week or on weekends as required.
  • Ability to lift heavy tools and equipment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
