About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Structural Metal and Platework Fabricator to join our team at Avilion Metalcraft Ltd. As a key member of our fabrication department, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and executing the fabrication of metal structures and components.

Key Responsibilities
  • Material Planning: Determine the materials required for each project, ensuring accurate estimates and efficient use of resources.
  • Engineering Interpretation: Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to plan methods and sequences of operation, ensuring compliance with industry standards and company policies.
  • Layout and Fabrication: Lay out reference points and patterns, plan the sequence of tasks to cut metal efficiently, and assemble and fit plates and sections to form structures.
  • Machining and Welding: Set up and operate heavy-duty metal-working machines, weld or bolt sections together, and install fabricated components in final products.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Rig, hoist, and move materials to storage areas or within the worksite, ensuring safe and efficient use of equipment.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in metal fabrication, preferably in a structural metal or steel fabrication environment.
  • Certifications: Forklift Operator Certification and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate.
  • Skills: Proficiency in MIG and TIG welding techniques, experience with brakes and presses, cutting torches, drills, grinders, shears, and AutoCAD software.

  • Work Environment: Physically demanding, with a combination of sitting, standing, walking, and manual dexterity required.
  • Physical Capabilities: Ability to work at heights, in cold or hot temperatures, and in a noisy environment.
