Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Structural Metal and Platework Fabricator to join our team at Avilion Metalcraft Ltd. As a key member of our fabrication department, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and executing the fabrication of metal structures and components.

Key Responsibilities
  • Material Management: Determine the required materials for each project, ensuring accurate quantities and specifications.
  • Engineering Interpretation: Interpret engineering drawings and instructions to plan methods and sequences of operation, ensuring efficient and safe execution.
  • Layout and Fabrication: Lay out reference points and patterns, plan the sequence of tasks to cut metal efficiently, and assemble and fit plates and sections to form structures.
  • Machining and Welding: Set up and operate heavy-duty metal-working machines, weld or bolt sections together, and install fabricated components in final products.
  • Equipment Operation: Rig, hoist, and move materials to storage areas or within the worksite, using equipment such as brakes, presses, cutting torches, drills, grinders, shears, and saws.
  • Quality Control: Ensure all fabricated components meet quality standards, adhering to company specifications and regulations.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in metal fabrication.
  • Certifications: Forklift Operator Certification and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate.
  • Skills: Proficiency in MIG and TIG welding techniques, experience with AutoCAD, and ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in various environmental conditions.
Working Conditions

This is a physically demanding role that requires manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and attention to detail. The successful candidate must be willing to work overtime and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
