Program Overview:

St.Amant Respite and Family Support Services offers vital out-of-home respite options for families with children who have significant disability-related care needs. Our 24-hour staffed home provides regular respite for children and youth aged 10 to 17 years who are not in care, focusing on those with intellectual or developmental disabilities and/or autism. This comprehensive service also includes enhanced support for families, which may encompass occupational therapy, behavioral support training, and counseling, all aimed at empowering families to continue their caregiving roles at home.

Position Summary:

Under the guidance of the Coordinator, Team Leader, and clinical staff, the Treatment Staff in Community Respite Services is responsible for ensuring that high-quality support and treatment are delivered to individuals. Key responsibilities include:

  • Promoting effective and dignified health care and support for individuals.
  • Implementing education, training, and work opportunities.
  • Supporting the achievement of personal goals and outcomes.

The role involves the implementation of treatment procedures and programs through direct, mediated, or consultative service delivery models. This position requires close collaboration within an interdisciplinary team, where the Treatment Staff is responsible for collecting and analyzing relevant data for the residence.

Qualifications:

Educational:

  • Completion of Grade XII or G.E.D.
  • Certification in CPR and Emergency First Aid.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification is advantageous.
  • Successful completion of St.Amant training during the probationary period.

Professional:

  • At least two years of experience in providing services to individuals with disabilities.
  • Experience with children is preferred.
  • Experience in crisis intervention is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of basic nutrition and household management is important.

Personal:

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Strong organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to foster positive working relationships.
  • Commitment to continuous personal and professional development.
  • Ability to document and record data accurately.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Treatment Staff in Community Respite Services is responsible for delivering residential and support services in alignment with St.Amant's mission and policies. Key duties include:

  • Providing personal care as needed.
  • Encouraging individuals to build new relationships and engage in community activities.
  • Participating in the development and implementation of Daily Activity Schedules.
  • Conducting assessments and implementing developmental training programs.
  • Recording and reporting relevant information according to program policies.
