Job Title: Family Support Specialist

At WRHA Community Health Services, we are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Family Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting families with young children to cultivate strong parent-child relationships and promote healthy development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish trusting relationships with families and provide individualized support to meet their unique needs.
  • Develop and implement family-centered service plans to promote secure parent-child attachments and optimize child development.
  • Collaborate with Public Health Nurses and other community resources to ensure comprehensive support for families.
  • Provide education and training to families on effective parenting, child development, and social factors that impact health and well-being.
  • Participate in weekly reflective supervision and regular meetings with PHN case managers to ensure effective service delivery.
Requirements:
  • 2+ years of experience working with families with young children in areas related to parenting.
  • High school education or equivalent required; willingness to complete Integrated Strategies and Growing Great Kids Tier 1 training within 6 months.
  • Valid class 5 driver's license may be required.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of early childhood growth and development, effective parenting, and social factors that affect health and well-being.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification as a Family Support Worker/Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Program, Early Childhood Educator, or other relevant education.
  • Fluent English reading, writing, and oral skills.
  • Understanding of Indigenous customs, experience, traditions, and values is an asset.

Physical Requirements: Evening and weekend work may be required to meet client needs. Physically able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 15 lbs or 6.8 kgs. Access to a motor vehicle suitable for all environmental conditions may be required.
