Position Overview:

As a Lead Water Management Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting multifaceted projects within our organization, aimed at delivering exceptional and sustainable solutions for our clients.

Your extensive experience in the mining sector and/or consulting, combined with your project management and interpersonal skills, will empower you to make a significant impact in our field and inspire innovative approaches to engineering and water management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct hydrological and hydraulic evaluations, analyze climatic data, and create comprehensive water balance models.
  • Examine drainage and erosion challenges, assess watercourses, delineate floodplains, and apply knowledge of both small and large river systems.
  • Perform data analysis and statistical evaluations related to water resources.
  • Design surface water management systems, including water intakes and earthworks projects, from feasibility studies to construction-ready packages.
  • Prepare and review technical documentation, effectively communicating findings to clients and regulatory bodies.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to produce well-structured reports and deliverables, ensuring high-quality models, research, presentations, and technical proposals.
  • Assist in estimating costs, developing schedules, and strategizing for water infrastructure initiatives.
  • Engage in front-end, preliminary, and detailed design across diverse technical scenarios.
  • Cultivate essential relationships with clients, technical and non-technical personnel, government officials, and technology providers.
  • Work with other departments to formulate and execute interdisciplinary project strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • A Master's Degree is considered an asset.
  • Over 10 years of relevant experience in the industry or consulting, with a focus on Water Resources and Infrastructure.
  • Registered with the Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC).

Experience Requirements:

  • Proven industry experience in mining is essential.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific permitting and regulatory frameworks is required.
  • Strong background in hydrology and hydraulic design and engineering is necessary.
  • Experience with mine water balance modeling using GoldSim is advantageous.
  • Comprehensive experience across all project phases: conceptualization, preliminary and detailed design, construction support, commissioning, and operational assistance.
  • Experience in operational roles is a plus.
  • Ability to adapt quickly, manage change, and thrive in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Excellent English communication skills, with experience in drafting and reviewing technical reports.
  • Demonstrated leadership, business development, and client engagement skills.
