Position Title: Property Accountant

Company: Taggart Realty Management

Reports to: Assistant Controller

Company Overview: Taggart Realty Management, a division of the Taggart Group of Companies, is dedicated to the acquisition, development, leasing, and management of various property types including retail, residential, office, and commercial real estate. With a growing portfolio of income-generating properties, we are expanding our finance team.

Role Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented Property Accountant to oversee the complete accounting cycle for multiple properties. This role involves preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and analyses, ensuring compliance with company policies and maintaining high-quality service to all stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of properties.
  • Collaborate with accounts receivable to ensure timely billing and collections.
  • Work with accounts payable to process invoices and payments efficiently.
  • Maintain and reconcile supplier accounts to ensure accuracy.
  • Prepare monthly financial tasks including bank reconciliations and management fee calculations.
  • Set up new contractors, suppliers, and tenants in the accounting system.
  • Ensure timely month-end close and adherence to reporting deadlines.
  • Generate and distribute monthly financial statements to relevant stakeholders.
  • Compile and analyze financial data for comprehensive reporting.
  • Conduct variance analyses for financial statements.
  • Develop and maintain Excel schedules to support financial reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Provide financial insights to support operations and management teams.
  • Assist in the year-end process with external service providers.
  • Help prepare CAM reconciliations, ensuring accurate expense allocations.
  • Perform general clerical duties as needed.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Complete additional tasks as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • Several years of experience in financial accounting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive work ethic.
  • Excellent organizational and communication abilities.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Experience with Yardi accounting software is advantageous.

Work Environment:

  • Provide service to various departments while managing multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Overtime may be necessary during peak periods.
