About the Role:

The Government of Saskatchewan is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Crops Extension Specialist to join their team. As a key member of the Regional Services Branch, you will play a vital role in providing technical expertise and leadership in crop production management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver comprehensive technical expertise in crop production management to farmers, producer groups, and industry stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership in developing, implementing, and promoting crops extension priorities, including the ministry's Crop Report.
  • Identify crops-related research and extension priorities to increase the adoption of new agricultural technologies and practices relevant to the crops sector.
  • Collaborate with ministry partners to deliver client service focused on program awareness, public trust, environment, research, and technology transfer.

Requirements:

  • Experience as an Agrologist with in-depth knowledge of crops, soils, pest management, and other topics relevant to crop production in Saskatchewan.
  • Leadership skills in delivering client service and ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team.
  • Exceptional communication skills to strategically interpret and transfer relevant information to producers, industry, and colleagues.
  • Organizational skills to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal leadership skills to build and maintain professional relationships with colleagues, technical specialists, and industry clients.
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and develop viable options, explanations, and solutions to complex agricultural production problems.
