Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Service Engineering Specialist to join our team at The Engineering Institute of Canada. As a key member of our service engineering team, you will be responsible for determining root cause and corrective action for issues affecting our products in service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the execution of commissioning activities, both onsite and/or remote, to ensure seamless product integration.
  • Collaborate with vendors and engineering teams to resolve hardware, software, and firmware issues that arise during commissioning.
  • Develop and evaluate service bulletins and instructions to ensure accurate and effective troubleshooting and repair procedures.
  • Investigate and resolve product issues of varying complexity, working closely with cross-functional teams to implement recommended solutions.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to field staff and customers to ensure timely resolution of issues.
  • Assess and quantify the benefits of product improvement opportunities, working with designers to implement improvements for existing and future products.
  • Communicate technical information effectively to internal and external stakeholders, including customers and utility companies.

Requirements

  • Registered (or eligible to be registered) as Engineer in Training, Professional Engineer, or Certified Engineering Technologist – Electrical.
  • 1-2 years' experience with troubleshooting electrical/electronic, software/firmware, or process failure modes.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks in parallel, with a strong attention to detail and ability to produce clear and concise written documents.
