Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Service Engineering Specialist to join our team at New Flyer. As a key member of our service engineering team, you will be responsible for determining root cause and corrective action for issues affecting our products in service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the execution of commissioning activities, both onsite and/or remote, to ensure seamless product integration.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create and evaluate service bulletins and instructions, ensuring accurate and comprehensive documentation.
  • Investigate and resolve product issues of varying complexity, working closely with vendors and engineering teams to implement recommended solutions.
  • Provide technical support to field staff and customers, ensuring timely resolution of issues and adherence to product specifications.
  • Develop and maintain diagnostic tools to enhance serviceability and efficiency.
  • Communicate technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences, ensuring clear understanding of product capabilities and limitations.
  • Assist in the development of product improvement opportunities, working with designers to implement enhancements for existing and future products.
  • Supply technical publications with updated information and suggestions for improving manual content.
  • Participate in controlled testing of components and installations to ensure product reliability and compliance with contractual obligations.

Requirements

  • Registered (or eligible to be registered) as an Engineer in Training, Professional Engineer, or Certified Engineering Technologist – Electrical.
  • 1-2 years' experience with troubleshooting electrical/electronic, software/firmware, or process failure modes.
  • 1-2 years' experience in PLC programming and familiarity with real-time service and diagnostic tools.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks in parallel, with a strong attention to detail and ability to produce clear and concise written documents.
  • Proficient with MS Office.
