Position Overview: The Operations Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing production activities, ensuring that the management of the assigned unit aligns with the requirements of other units and the overall productivity of the distribution center. This position is pivotal in fostering continuous improvements in safety, quality, and efficiency during the 12 noon to 9 PM closing shift. Key Responsibilities: - Assess and monitor activities to determine labor needs and allocate associates effectively. - Track performance metrics and identify systemic issues. - Address operational challenges and implement corrective measures to resolve immediate concerns. - Facilitate communication and support associates in achieving unit objectives and targets. - Conduct pre-shift briefings to align team efforts. - Engage associates in problem-solving initiatives and gather input on performance management strategies. - Cultivate a culture of teamwork and performance excellence among associates and peers. - Set and evaluate operational goals and accomplishments for the unit based on current assessments (Safety, Quality, and Productivity). - Strategically plan, guide, and assess associates and situations to determine the best course of action for optimal results. - Analyze labor allocations, manage labor costs (including overtime), and provide input on the recruitment of new associates. - Collaborate with other departments and locations to ensure seamless operations. - Maintain strong customer service interactions and vendor relationships. - Prepare reports on operational and payroll activities, including insightful commentary. - Participate in various special projects as needed. Qualifications: - A post-secondary diploma in Distribution/Logistics management from a recognized institution. - Three to five years of relevant experience in a large distribution center setting. - A minimum of two to three years of supervisory experience in a unionized environment is essential. - A proactive, solution-oriented approach with the ability to influence behavior and outcomes. - Strong proficiency in PC applications, along with excellent communication, problem-solving, and people management skills.
