Job Summary

Island Health is seeking a highly skilled Medical Subspecialty Lead to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for leading the development of clinical standards and guidelines for our Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Clinical Standards Development: Collaborate with our clinical teams to develop and implement standardized documentation requirements, condition-specific order sets, and clinical assessment and documentation assessments.
  • Harmonize Order Sets: Work with our island-wide specialty groups to harmonize order sets for use on paper and in our EHR system.
  • Ensure Quality and Safety: Ensure that our clinical standards and guidelines meet the highest standards of quality and safety.
  • Liaise with Teams: Liaise with our informatics, pharmacy, nursing, and allied health teams to ensure successful development and adoption of clinical order sets.
  • Support Change Management: Support our IHealth change management efforts by actively engaging with our specialty colleagues to support change.
  • Ensure Compliance: Ensure that our clinical standards and guidelines meet all relevant legislative, accreditation, and practice requirements.
  • Participate in Testing: Participate in testing events to ensure that our EHR system meets the clinical workflow requirements and best practice requirements.
  • Evaluate EHR System: Contribute to the evaluation of our EHR system through participating in lessons learned, provider experience feedback, benefits evaluation, and metrics.
Requirements
  • Medical Specialty Expertise: Possess expertise in a medical specialty and a strong understanding of clinical standards and guidelines.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrate strong leadership skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Communication Skills: Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate complex clinical concepts.
  • Technical Skills: Possess strong technical skills and the ability to work with our EHR system.
