Job Summary

Spirit Employment and Training Edmonton is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Human Resources and Operations to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a lead role in the development, implementation, and evaluation of Human Resources policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Human Resources Leadership:
    • Provide strategic guidance and direction to the Human Resources team, ensuring effective and efficient HR operations and processes.
    • Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and memorandums in collaboration with senior management.
  • Employee Relations and Support:
    • Respond to internal and external HR-related inquiries from staff, department managers, and other parties.
    • Provide advice and guidance to senior management and supervisors regarding disciplinary action and personnel matters.
  • Investigations and Compliance:
    • Conduct thorough and fair investigations into staff complaints regarding harassment or other contraventions of personnel policy.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Personnel Records and Reporting:
    • Ensure accurate and comprehensive personnel records are maintained.
    • Compile statistical reports and metrics concerning personnel-related data.
  • Special Projects and Initiatives:
    • Perform special duties and projects related to the department as required.
    • Develop and implement projects to improve HR operations and processes.
Requirements:
  • Education:
    • Post-Secondary Degree in Human Resources Management.
    • Masters' Degree in Human Resources Management is an asset.
  • Experience:
    • Ten plus years' experience in a Senior Human Resources role.
    • Experience working in Human Resources with First Nations or First Nations organization in Manitoba or other regions.
  • Skills:
    • Strong organizational ability, including planning, delegating, and task facilitation.
    • Ability to handle conflict and demonstrate sound judgment.
    • Excellent negotiation skills, supervising, operational, and strategic management planning.
    • Demonstrated leadership ability with the ability to achieve results through a consultative approach to decision making.
  • Other Requirements:
    • Must be proficient in computer software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
    • Ability to work flexible hours and overtime when needed.
    • Adhere to policies and procedures with specific attention to attendance and professional ethics.
    • Must be able to work flexible hours, possess a valid Class 5F Driver's License and a reliable vehicle.
    • Criminal Record check and Vulnerable Sector check required.
