Global Transaction Banking Overview

Global Transaction Banking (GTB) serves as the transaction and payment engine for Scotiabank. We provide comprehensive treasury management solutions to Small Business, Commercial, and Corporate clients, ensuring a seamless banking experience.

Role Purpose

In this position, you will play a crucial role in the overall success of Global Transaction Banking (GTB) across Scotiabank's markets by identifying and developing transformational opportunities within GTB. You will ensure that specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed in alignment with the team's business strategies and objectives. This role will collaborate closely with various business lines to define and validate strategies for GTB's Canadian and global markets while ensuring compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote a customer-centric culture to strengthen client relationships and leverage broader Bank resources, systems, and knowledge.
  • Contribute to the formulation and development of the GTB strategy and roadmap through research on global payment trends and disruptions, analyzing their relevance to Scotiabank's markets.
  • Facilitate problem-solving sessions, workshops, and interviews with cross-functional teams and subject matter experts.
  • Analyze and synthesize findings, presenting clear recommendations and implementation plans to ensure impactful project outcomes for senior leadership.
  • Assist in annual business planning activities, including investment assessments and benefits forecasting.
  • Create materials to support executive updates, steering committees, and monthly business reviews.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and culture should inform daily activities and decision-making.
  • Strive for operational efficiency in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles, ensuring adherence to business controls related to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.
  • Foster a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive workplace.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in Corporate Strategy, Consulting, or strategy roles within a Financial Services organization.
  • Deep understanding of the domestic and global transaction banking and payments landscape, including market usage across segments.
  • Ability to articulate and communicate complex business concepts related to transaction banking.
  • Experience applying design thinking principles to identify and resolve business challenges.
  • Comfortable working in an agile, matrixed environment.
  • Hands-on experience with payments modernization initiatives, either domestically or internationally.
  • General knowledge of global transaction banking trends and technologies.
  • Strong proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is preferred.
