About the Role

The MCAP Group of Companies is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Initiatives Director to join our Corporate Strategic Initiatives team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading and supporting various corporate initiatives and/or other initiatives involving any of MCAP's lines of businesses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Strategic Initiatives: Provide input to develop new business initiatives and adapt to market changes and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Senior Leaders: Work with senior leaders of the business units and appropriate external parties to liaise and pilot such initiatives.
  • Assist with Initiative Development: Assist the senior leaders with respect to various aspects of new initiatives including but not limited to the development and structuring, financial modelling, legal review, implementation, and closing.
  • Review and Analyze Business Cases: Review of business cases, related term sheets, quantitative analysis, and presentations.
  • Understand and Analyze Data: Understanding of data (including data mining), analysis, systems, and operational processes as well as recommendations for automation.
  • Provide Recommendations: Recommend appropriate solutions and/or alternatives to senior management with respect to a variety of initiatives.
  • Prepare Board Package Materials: Assist in the preparation of board package materials required for approval.
  • Communicate Effectively: Effectively communicate with various parties including senior management which may be in the form of presentations and ad hoc requests.
Government Relations
  • Develop Strategies and Materials: Work with senior members of the CSI team to develop strategies and related materials to aid in ongoing discussions.
  • Participate in Discussions: Partake in ongoing discussions as required.
Requirements
  • 5+ Years of Experience: 5+ years working knowledge of mortgages.
  • Finance/Accounting Background: Finance/Accounting background.
  • Capital Markets Experience: Experience with capital markets is an asset.
  • Strong Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills including proven ability to build and foster relationships.
  • Effective Communication: Ability to communicate effectively at all levels including the ability to articulate the merits of certain programs.
  • Financial Analysis: Ability to analyze financial and investment analysis to understand how to use this information to drive projects/initiatives that will impact the business.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and anticipate future consequences and trends.
  • Relationship Building: Ability to gain trust of senior management and leverage relationships to achieve the best possible results.
  • Leadership Skills: Ability to manage people effectively and promote an entrepreneurial and inclusive team working environment.
  • Technical Skills: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint proficiency are required.
  • Strong Writing and Communication Skills: Strong writing, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail.
