Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Resource Planner to join our team at Alberta Health Services. As a key member of our Medical Affairs department, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing strategies to support the effective and efficient functioning of our strategic Recruitment Program within the North Zone.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Physician Workforce Plan that aligns with the AHS strategic plan, facility-specific strategic plans, and AHS Rural Health Strategy.
  • Maintain constant communication with the North Zone Medical Affairs Manager and Director, and the North Zone Medical Director and Associates regarding recruitment needs within the North Zone.
  • Build and maintain open communication with all facility and community Medical Directors, Facility Leads/Directors/VPs, and relevant external community partners regarding any issues or recruitment items.
  • Coordinate site/community visits and/or video-interview process, and assist with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta process for licensure.
  • Prepare all documentation necessary for Human Resource Development and Canada Immigration, and manage all general inquiries of foreign physicians wishing to relocate to Canada.
  • Assist/coordinate any participation in annual Physician Recruitment Fair(s) and Resident Reception(s), and prepare the North Zone Physician Workforce Plan.
Requirements
  • A minimum of a related post-secondary degree or diploma and two years of related experience.
  • Strong leadership ability, ability to inspire and instill confidence in a large diverse group, and experience in managing change on a large scale.
  • Working knowledge of Alberta Health Services systems and processes, previous experience with Recruitment or Medical Affairs, and ability to manage projects or programs with minimal to moderate resource requirements, risk, and complexity.
  • Ability to monitor and control costs related to own work, and working knowledge of immigration and recruitment legislation, policies, processes, and office software databases (Outlook, Excel, Word).
