We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner to join our team at PHSA. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care services, including assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans, in a trauma-informed and culturally safe manner.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and develop comprehensive treatment plans.
- Conduct physical and substance use assessments, collect specimens, and refer patients to physicians for further examination.
- Administer prescribed treatments and medications according to established protocols and make adjustments as needed.
- Triangulate health service requests from patients and develop treatment plans or referrals accordingly.
- Observe, monitor, evaluate, and assess patient progress, symptoms, and behavioral changes, and document findings.
- Provide education and support to patients and groups on various health topics, including contraception, birth control, sexually transmitted diseases, and minor dermatology problems.
- Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, patients, families, and community members to identify and resolve health issues, cultural and language barriers, and ethical dilemmas.
- Maintain accurate computerized and paper records in accordance with established procedures and policies.
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.
- Two years' recent experience providing trauma-informed acute or community health nursing care services to patients with complex physical, psychiatric, and/or substance abuse/misuse disorders.
- Successful completion of Occupational First Aid II (OFA II) or OFA III techniques.
- Working knowledge of community health nursing theory, including mental health and addictions, communicable diseases, primary care, and practice within a patient/family-centered approach.
- Working knowledge of BCCNM's Standards for Nursing Practice.
- Knowledge of the BC Mental Health Act and other relevant facilities and community resources.
- Working knowledge of facilitation, mediation, and conflict resolution techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to adjust to new or unexpected events.
- Commitment to developing knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments related to Indigenous reconciliation and cultural safety.
