Role Overview: The Senior Community Engagement Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting participants involved in Kinsight Community Inclusion Programs. This position is dedicated to advocating for individuals, helping them explore opportunities to engage and contribute as integral members of the community through personalized planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and assist the Supervisor in participant support planning meetings and maintain annual documentation.
  • Coordinate staff and participant schedules, providing orientation, training, and guidance to Community Support Workers and Service Experience Workers.

Work Schedule:

35 hours per week, primarily Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with some flexibility required for evening and weekend shifts. Availability to work on statutory holidays may also be necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Courses in program facilitation, life skills education, crisis intervention, behavior management, basic counseling, and conflict resolution are advantageous.
  • Previous experience supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, or mental health challenges is preferred.
  • Familiarity with current theories, principles, and practices in the field is essential.
  • Experience in organizing and facilitating the Person-Centered Planning Process is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of positive behavioral support techniques and skill-based training is required.
  • Experience in assisting individuals with personal care needs in a respectful and safe manner is necessary.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including MS Office and information management software, is expected.
  • A valid BC Class 5 Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle are required.
  • Certifications in Community Care First Aid/CPR, NVCI, and Food Safe are necessary.
  • Participation in the Municipal Pension Plan is included.
