JOB POSTING - RESIDENT ADMISSIONS SPECIALIST

The Resident Admissions Specialist will report directly to the Executive Director and will play a crucial role in facilitating orientation, informal education, and support for new residents, their families, and friends. This position aims to foster a sense of comfort, well-being, and empowerment among individuals entering our community.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Serve as the primary coordinator for resident placements.
  2. Maintain daily communication with Home and Community Care Support Services to manage bed availability.
  3. Complete all necessary documentation for the admissions application process.
  4. Organize and conduct facility tours for prospective residents and their families.
  5. Inspect resident accommodations prior to move-in, coordinating with maintenance and housekeeping to ensure readiness.
  6. Conduct exit interviews with families and residents upon discharge.
  7. Participate in admission day conferences led by the Social Work team.
  8. Finalize residents' business files by the end of the admission day.
  9. Engage with residents and families on the waiting list to gather required information for business files.
  10. Provide support to families and friends of individuals experiencing dementia while promoting a person-centered approach.
  11. Communicate with the Public Guardian and Trustee regarding the admission status of new residents and establish payment processes.
  12. Implement collections policies for new admissions who fail to make payments within three days.
  13. Understand and apply quality indicators used by the facility.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned or outlined in the Job Task Inventory.
Qualifications:
  1. High School Diploma.
  2. SSW certification.
  3. Experience in a geriatric social-related field is advantageous.
  4. Familiarity with electronic health records is preferred.
  5. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact courteously with residents, the public, staff, and volunteers.
  6. Ability to work empathetically and bring joy to others.
  7. Exhibit spontaneity and positively influence the moment for individuals.
  8. Maintain a positive demeanor and avoid controlling language and actions.
  9. Registered with the relevant college annually.
  10. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  11. Strong organizational abilities.
  12. Proficiency in a second language is a plus.
  13. Demonstrate a focus on individuals' feelings during interactions and turn tasks into positive social experiences.
  14. Meet all legal requirements while promoting individuals' rights and managing risk.
  15. Must provide a current Vulnerable Sector Check or be willing to obtain one.
  16. As a condition of employment, candidates must submit documented TB testing results or a chest X-ray as per Public Health requirements.
  17. Two supervisory references are required.
  18. COVID-19 vaccination is mandatory for employment.
  19. French or Italian speaking is an asset for specific roles.
