Palliative Care Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Palliative Care Nurse Consultant to join our team at Northern Health Authority. As a key member of our Hospice Palliative Care Consultation Team, you will play a vital role in supporting and mentoring primary care givers in various care settings.
Key Responsibilities- Establish regular contact with key palliative care stakeholders to build capacity and provide education and resources across the continuum of care.
- Develop and implement education and resources to support the development of policies, procedures, and education needs related to the NH HPC Program.
- Provide consults on clinically complex pain, symptom, and psychosocial issues for persons registered with the NH HPC Program.
- Lead the development of policies, procedures, and education needs related to the NH HPC Program.
- Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
- Minimum two (2) years full-time recent experience in palliative care nursing with a focus on pain and symptom management.
- Certificate of specialized training in palliative care or post-basic palliative care nursing courses and evidence of palliative care nursing education.
- Two years of demonstrated teaching experience for a range of health care providers.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, including word processing, email, and electronic presentations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Knowledge of current palliative care philosophy, principles, practices, and resources.
- Vehicle, valid driver's license required and appropriate insurance.

- Four weeks vacation with one year of continuous service.
