Culinary Specialist (Casual)

The Culinary Specialist plays a vital role within our community, enhancing the lives of residents and fostering a sense of connection.
As a Culinary Specialist, your daily responsibilities will include:
• Organizing equipment and supplies for meal preparation.
• Cooking meals and snacks following production sheets, recipes, and other menu documentation provided.
• Catering to specific dietary needs, ensuring food is served at appropriate temperatures and in controlled portions.
• Assessing the quality of food supplies received, reporting issues to the team leader, and suggesting corrective measures.
• In the absence of the team leader, overseeing departmental operations, including necessary menu adjustments and ordering food and supplies from approved vendors.
• Assisting in the onboarding and training of new staff members.
• Carrying out additional tasks as assigned.
Essential Qualifications:
• Minimum of Grade 12 education required.
• A valid Safe Food Handling Certificate and/or Smart Serve certification.
• Experience in cooking within institutional, healthcare, restaurant, or hospitality settings.
• A positive attitude that aligns with the goals and standards of the residence.
• Successful completion of the Vulnerable Sector Check is mandatory for applicable candidates.
• Successful completion of the Criminal Records Check is mandatory for applicable candidates.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Graduate of a recognized culinary program and willingness to pursue Red Seal certification.
