Culinary Specialist

The Culinary Specialist plays a vital role in our community, positively influencing the lives of residents and fostering connections through food.

In this role, your daily responsibilities will include:


• Preparing and organizing equipment and ingredients for meal preparation.


• Cooking meals and snacks in accordance with production sheets, recipes, and menu guidelines.


• Catering to specific dietary needs, ensuring meals are served at the correct temperatures and portion sizes.


• Assessing the quality of food supplies received, reporting any issues to the team leader, and suggesting corrective measures.


• Taking charge of departmental operations in the absence of the team leader, including menu adjustments and procurement of food and supplies from approved vendors.


• Assisting in the onboarding and training of new culinary team members.


• Carrying out additional tasks as assigned.

Essential qualifications include:


• Minimum of Grade 12 education.


• A valid Safe Food Handling Certificate and/or Smart Serve certification.


• Previous experience in cooking within institutional, healthcare, restaurant, or hospitality settings.


• A positive attitude essential for meeting the standards and objectives of the residence.


• Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check is required for applicants in Ontario.


• Successful completion of a Criminal Records Check is required for applicants in British Columbia.

Additional qualifications that are advantageous:


• Graduation from a recognized culinary program and a willingness to pursue Red Seal certification.
