Culinary Specialist (Casual)

The Culinary Specialist plays a vital role within our community, positively influencing the lives of residents and fostering meaningful connections.

As a Culinary Specialist, your daily responsibilities will include:


• Organizing equipment and supplies necessary for meal preparation.


• Cooking meals and snacks following production sheets, recipes, and other menu documents provided.


• Catering to specific dietary needs, ensuring appropriate temperatures and portion control.


• Assessing the quality of food supplies received, reporting issues to the team leader, and suggesting corrective measures.


• In the absence of the team leader, overseeing departmental operations, including menu adjustments, and managing food requisitions and purchases from authorized vendors.


• Aiding in the orientation and training of new staff members.


• Executing additional tasks as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:


• Minimum education requirement of Grade 12.


• Possession of a valid Safe Food Handling Certificate and/or Smart Serve certificate.


• Experience in cooking within institutional, healthcare, restaurant, or hospitality settings.


• A positive attitude essential for achieving the goals and standards of the residence.


• Successful completion of the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check is required for applicants in Ontario.


• Successful completion of the prescribed Criminal Records Check is required for applicants in British Columbia.

Preferred Qualifications:


• Graduation from a recognized college food preparation program and willingness to pursue Red Seal certification.
