Culinary Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Culinary Specialist to join our team at Aspira Harvest Crossing Retirement Living. As a key member of our culinary team, you will play a critical role in delivering exceptional dining experiences for our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up equipment and supplies for food preparation, ensuring a safe and efficient kitchen environment.
  • Prepare meals and snacks according to production sheets, recipes, and other menu documents, maintaining high standards of quality and presentation.
  • Provide for prescribed diets, ensuring that food is prepared and served at the correct temperatures and in portion-controlled quantities.
  • Monitor the quality of food supplies received and advise the team leader of any issues, making recommendations for corrective action.
  • In the absence of the team leader, assume responsibility for departmental operations, including menu changes, requisitions, and purchases of food and other supplies.
  • Assist in the orientation and training of new team members, promoting a culture of excellence and teamwork.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of our culinary team.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 minimum education required.
  • A valid Safe Food Handling Certificate and/or Smart Serve certificate.
  • Experience with cooking in institutional, healthcare, restaurant, or hospitality settings.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude necessary to meet the goals and standards of our residence.
  • All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check (applicable to Ontario applicants) and Criminal Records Check (applicable to British Columbia applicants).

Bonus Points:

  • Graduate of a recognized college food preparation program and willing to Red Seal certify.
