Renfrew County Bus Lines Inc. is seeking dedicated school transportation operators to facilitate the daily commute of students across the Renfrew County area. Your responsibilities will include performing daily vehicle inspections, adhering to safe driving practices, maintaining order on the bus, and making multiple stops to pick up and drop off students. Regardless of the weather conditions, students rely on you to ensure their safe arrival.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely transport school-aged children to and from their educational facilities.
  • Ensure the safety of children during boarding and disembarking, particularly when crossing streets at bus stops.
  • Maintain discipline and order on the school bus.
  • Keep necessary documentation current (daily logs, timesheets, etc.).
  • Report any vehicle deficiencies promptly.
  • Conduct daily inspections of the vehicle before departure each morning.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the vehicle.
  • Refuel the vehicle at the end of each day.

Training and Benefits

  • Up to 40 hours of paid training at a rate of $16.55 per hour.
  • Reimbursement for medical examination fees and B licensing fees.
  • Coverage for vulnerable and criminal background check fees.
  • Reimbursement for First Aid CPR C certification fees.
  • Additional training and courses as required.

Compensation

  • $18.00 per hour for G Licence – Minivan and White Handicap Bus.
  • $20.00 per hour for B Licence – Yellow School Bus.
Qualifications

Essential Attributes

  • Demonstrate independence and resourcefulness.
  • Enjoy interacting with the public.
  • Have a passion for driving.
  • Exhibit a strong sense of responsibility, organization, and situational awareness.

Requirements

  • No criminal history relevant to the position.
  • Maintain a driving record free of demerit points.
  • Possess a good understanding of the local area.
  • Proficient in spoken and written English.
  • Hold a valid 'G' Class Licence or equivalent, be at least 21 years old, and be eligible to obtain a valid Commercial Driver's Class 'B' Licence through our training program.
  • Must reside in Ontario.
