About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Hardware Designer to join our team at Octasic. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing complex electronic circuits and systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the development of new hardware designs from concept to mass production
  • Gather and identify component level requirements, including functional and physical characteristics
  • Develop embedded and electronic designs using schematic capture
  • Oversee PCB layout, considering component placement, shielding, and thermal dissipation
  • Participate in system bring-up and debugging
  • Write and execute low-level software tests to validate hardware design
  • Support product introduction to manufacturing
  • Maintain existing designs, mitigating production issues such as obsolescence and material changes

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in digital and analog circuit development
  • Experience with complex high-speed electronic circuit design
  • Good oral and written English skills for effective communication with our multi-site teams
  • Strong debugging skills using oscilloscope, autonomous, and rigorous

Assets

  • Familiarity with lab equipment, including RF signal and network analyzers
  • Knowledge of cellular technologies (GSM, UMTS, LTE,...)
  • Wireless RF design experience
  • Knowledge of VHDL, Python, and C languages
  • Knowledge of military standards (MIL-STD-810) an asset
