Job Overview

Octasic is a leading provider of advanced communication solutions, and we are currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Hardware Design Engineer to join our team.

About the Role

As a Senior Hardware Design Engineer, you will be responsible for participating in the development of electronic circuit designs, from concept to mass production. This will involve gathering and identifying component level requirements, developing embedded and electronic designs using schematic capture, and overseeing PCB layout.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in new hardware designs from concept to mass production
  • Gather and identify component level requirements; functional as well as physical characteristics
  • Develop embedded and electronic designs using schematic capture
  • Oversee PCB layout, in consideration of component placement, shielding and thermal dissipation
  • Participate in system bring-up and debugging
  • Write and execute low-level software tests to validate hardware design
  • Support product introduction to manufacturing
  • Maintain existing designs; mitigating production issues such as obsolescence, material changes, etc.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum work experience of 10 years related to digital and analog circuit development
  • Experience with complex high speed electronic circuit design
  • Good oral and written English skills for good communication with our multi-site teams. Oral French is required for good communication with our Montreal team
  • Strong debugging skills using oscilloscope, autonomous and rigorous

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiar with the following lab equipment: RF signal and network analyzers
  • Knowledge of cellular technologies (GSM, UMTS, LTE, …)
  • Wireless RF design experience
  • Knowledge of VHDL, Python and C language
  • Knowledge of military standards (MIL-STD-810) an asset
