Position Summary

The City of Kamloops is seeking a motivated and organized individual for the role of Urban Planning Associate within our Planning & Development Department. This position encompasses responsibilities in both current and long-range planning initiatives. Additionally, we provide flexible work arrangements, including modified schedules that allow for one earned day off every three weeks.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  1. A completed university degree in Urban Planning or a related field, such as geography, sociology, urban development, or sustainable development.
  2. The ability to achieve full membership with the Canadian Institute of Planners within five years of employment.
  3. A minimum of one year of experience in a planning role within a municipal or private sector context, with a background in both technical and analytical planning tasks.
  4. A valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence.

For new hires and those in designated positions of trust, including roles involving vulnerable populations, a police information check is required prior to a formal employment offer. This position includes a comprehensive benefits package and is classified under CUPE local 900. The application process remains open until the position is filled.

Monday – Friday
8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (summer)
8:30 AM – 4:30 PM (winter)
Hours per Week: 35
Hourly Rate: $48.51
