City Planning Coordinator

The City of Kamloops is seeking a highly skilled Urban Planning Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our planning department, you will play a crucial role in examining preliminary proposals and building permit applications for commercial, industrial, and multi-family residential buildings for compliance.
Key Responsibilities- Examine preliminary proposals and building permit applications for compliance with relevant regulations and policies.
- Prepare reports, agendas, correspondence, and preliminary proposals, and rezoning and development permit applications.
- Conduct research, collect, and compile statistical data for use in community and project planning.
- Utilize GIS applications to analyze and present data.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination.
- Completion of a university diploma or degree in Urban/Community Planning or a related discipline.
- Minimum three years of previous professional experience in a planning environment.
- Formal training in GIS applications or two years of GIS-related work experience.
- Candidate member or eligibility to become a candidate member of the Planning Institute of BC.
- Proficient in basic Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Valid BC Driver's Licence - Class 5 (or equivalent).
