Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Admissions Expert to join our team at the University of Ottawa. As a key member of our Admissions Office, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our admissions processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement admission policies and procedures to meet the University's enrolment objectives.
  • Coordinate the admission cycle, including administering admission requirements and policies, and ensuring timely evaluation of complex applications.
  • Provide counselling and support to applicants, including those with unusual educational pathways or extenuating circumstances.
  • Review and evaluate requests for appeals, and provide justification for decisions.
  • Collaborate with the Admissions Manager to develop and implement strategies to meet the University's enrolment targets.
  • Represent the Admissions Office at recruitment activities, including on-campus presentations and international recruitment missions.
  • Configure computerized decisions in the SIS for the electronic evaluation of Ontario High School applications.
  • Participate in SIS testing and maintenance of admission information on various websites and publications.
Requirements
  • Successful completion of an undergraduate degree, or equivalent education and experience.
  • At least 3 years of work experience in a university admissions office, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in leading projects.
  • Excellent judgement and initiative, with superior problem-solving skills.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work with a diverse and difficult clientele.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong counselling, influencing, and consultative skills, including the ability to listen, ask questions, summarize, and translate information to make effective decisions.
  • Ability to work independently, under pressure, with strict deadlines, and handle highly sensitive and confidential material.
  • Ability to travel domestically and abroad, and work outside of regular business hours and on weekends.
