About the Role

The University of Ottawa is seeking an experienced Admissions Expert to join our team. As an Admissions Expert, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our admissions process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Determine candidates' eligibility by applying admission requirements and policies in accordance with Senate and Faculty policies.
  • Interview potential students and assess their academic potential.
  • Award and revise admission scholarships, differential tuition fee exemptions, and transfer credits.
  • Adjudge the admissibility of all types of applicants from national and international educational systems.
  • Mentor Admissions Officers and Information Officers regarding international policies, immigration regulations, and document validation.
  • Counsel students and their parents regarding all aspects of the admission process.
  • Participate in the development of institutional admission policies and business processes.
  • Presents and prepares special cases to the Faculty Admissions Committee for review.
  • Researches and stays up to date on provincial, national, and international curricula.
  • Produces reports and recommendations on admission policies to meet university and faculty enrollment targets.
  • Represents the admissions office at recruitment activities and provides guidance and support to the International Office, faculties, and services.
Requirements
  • Successful completion of an undergraduate degree.
  • At least 3 years of work experience in a university admissions office.
  • 2 years of experience in leading projects, including analyzing and interpreting institutional needs and applying day-to-day work to the institution's objectives.
  • Demonstrate excellent judgement and initiative with superior problem-solving skills.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Excellent customer service dealing with a diversified and difficult clientele.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong counselling, influencing, and consultative skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of national and international education systems.
  • Broad knowledge of university academic programs, structure, and admissions.
  • Solid computer competency and experience with applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent ability to perform mathematical calculations and validations.
  • Ability to work independently, under pressure with strict deadlines, to handle highly sensitive and confidential material.
  • Experience in administrative writing and communicating in both official languages.
  • Ability and willingness to travel both domestically and abroad as well as work outside of regular business hours and on weekends.
