This is a senior leadership position within the Commercial Mortgage division of the MCAP Group of Companies. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the profitability of our commercial term and CMHC insured construction lending programs.
Key Responsibilities- Origination and Structuring of Commercial Mortgages
- Originate conventional and insured commercial mortgage opportunities nationally through direct relationships and the commercial broker network.
- Develop, maintain, and manage relationships with borrowers, brokers, and other market participants.
- Critically assess loan applications and recommend them for approval.
- Manage approved transactions through the commitment and funding stages of the loan life cycle.
- Client Relationship Management
- Maintain existing client relationships and generate repeat business.
- Identify and develop new business from new clients introduced to MCAP.
- Educate new and current clients on MCAP products.
- Represent MCAP at industry events.
- Provide input into new product initiatives based on market needs.
- Loan Management
- Oversee the progress of loans through all stages from inception to funding.
- Ensure credit quality and timelines are met.
- Communicate with the funding and investment management teams to retain deals.
- Investor Marketing
- Supply market intelligence to educate and update existing investors.
- Provide input and feedback on commercial marketing materials.
- Develop and maintain relationships with CMHC, the mortgage broker, and real estate broker networks.
- Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in the commercial mortgage market.
- Proven track record originating commercial mortgages with in-depth CMHC multi-family term and construction experience.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented and analytical skills.
- Proficient with MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
- Ability to demonstrate initiative and confidence.
- Familiarity with CMHC policy and the multi-family marketplace is an asset.
