Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commercial Mortgage Originator to join our team at MCAP Group of Companies. As a key member of our commercial lending team, you will be responsible for originating and structuring commercial mortgage transactions, building and maintaining relationships with clients, and providing input into new product initiatives based on market needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Originate and structure commercial mortgage transactions, including conventional and insured commercial mortgage opportunities
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, including borrowers, brokers, and other market participants
  • Provide input into new product initiatives based on market needs
  • Secure mortgage loan applications from borrowers and brokers
  • Add and expand selectively to the MCAP/CMHC Approved Correspondent network
  • Originate and structure commercial mortgages that are placed with MCAP Investors
  • Liaise with Investment Management to understand various Investor requirements for loan quality and pricing
  • Support Investment Management in obtaining Investor loan approval, including participation in presentations as required
Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years experience in the commercial mortgage market with prior experience, an existing client base, and a proven track record originating commercial mortgages with in-depth CMHC multi-family term and construction experience preferred
  • Work independently in an environment with an ability to build a rapport with colleagues and work collaboratively in a team environment developing trusted relationships in particular with Investment Management, Funding, and Portfolio Management departments
  • Proficient with MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with CMHC policy and the multi-family marketplace is an asset
  • Ability to originate transactions with a demonstrated track in marketing and deal negotiations
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business preferred
  • French preferred but not required
