This role is primarily remote, allowing for flexibility, with occasional travel required. Candidates should have access to an airport.

In this position, you will assist in overseeing the environmental management initiatives, supporting the health, safety, security, and environmental lead. The ideal candidate will engage in compliance program oversight, auditing, reporting, incident management, program development, hazard identification, and training initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze regulatory standards and industry best practices, providing guidance on environmental issues.
  • Manage documentation and maintain an inventory system for hazardous materials.
  • Prepare and submit compliance reports to regulatory agencies.
  • Communicate with regulatory bodies and maintain legal documentation.
  • Review vendor compliance documentation.
  • Maintain the federal fuel storage tank registry.
  • Handle communications, inspections, and directives from regulatory authorities regarding client properties.
  • Develop and execute audit strategies, tracking non-conformities and corrective actions.
  • Participate in site audits and compile audit findings.
  • Prepare and refresh monthly, quarterly, and annual environmental reports for clients.
  • Coordinate remedial actions and document corrective measures for environmental incidents.
  • Ensure timely reporting to environmental authorities for incidents.
  • Update and maintain the Environmental Management System (EMS) in accordance with ISO14001 standards.
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs.
  • Review program documentation for compliance and offer recommendations.
  • Conduct hazard assessments and engage in annual internal evaluations.
  • Collaborate with project management teams on environmental initiatives.
  • Inform clients of planned projects that may have significant environmental impacts.
  • Ensure team members complete necessary training and maintain a training records database.
  • Evaluate existing training programs for compliance with regulations.

Qualifications

  • A degree in environmental sciences or a related field.
  • Preferred environmental certification.
  • At least five years of experience in managing and implementing environmental programs and systems, ideally in facility operations.
  • Proven experience in regulatory compliance management.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated interpersonal and negotiation abilities.
  • Bilingual proficiency in French and English is preferred.
